Vera (Oliveira) Gonynor
Certified English Tutor | Realtor | Advocate for Immigrant Literacy
Originally from the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I was introduced to the world of languages at an early age. At just 9 years old, my parents enrolled me in CCAA, an English school, as a daily extracurricular activity. This experience sparked a lifelong fascination with languages—not only English and Portuguese but also Spanish and Italian. Learning foreign languages has always brought me immense joy, and as the years passed, I became increasingly fluent, finishing English school in 1987. The following year, in 1988, I arrived in the United States, where my passion for languages and helping others took root.
Teaching English to immigrants has always been a calling close to my heart. I take great pride in encouraging my students to embrace the process, reminding them that even if the words don’t come out perfectly, they are achieving something extraordinary. Speaking a second language is a remarkable accomplishment, and I believe in celebrating every step of that journey.
In addition to my work as an English tutor, I’m a dedicated Realtor, helping clients navigate the complexities of the housing market. I’m also proud to volunteer with the Massachusetts Association of Refugees and Daniel's Table, both causes that resonate with my commitment to serving my community.
On a more personal note, I’m a Navy wife, a mother, a grandmother, and an avid dog lover. Each of these roles brings unique joy to my life and strengthens my resolve to make a positive impact on those around me.
